The songs are л л well constructed, layered and melodic (often in a л л melancholic way). They vary from the 4-5 minute л л less progressive songs through to 15 minute л л wonders that build up and slow down like a roller л л coaster, taking you on a wonderful journey. л л This compilation is a great introduction - 2.5 л л hours of the very best of their first 7 albums. л л All songs have been lovingly remixed by Bruce л л Soord (founder, singer, guitarist, writer, л л producer and all round good egg) with help from л л Steve Kitch (keyboardist). The job has been done л л very well, as has the thought that has gone into л л the ordering of the songs - not the traditional л л chronological listing, but one that works as an л л album in its own right (so rare for compilations). л л The old albums are difficult to get these days л л following TPT's move to K-Scope from Cyclops, so л л this is a great introduction that will have you л л scouring eBay or Amazon to find the back л л catalogue. Warnings - some of the old albums are л л offered at obscene prices, that is how good and л л popular they justly are with a small (but growing) л л group of true band/music lovers. Not true prog, л л but truly progressive. л л л л --- л л л л Excellent compilation on 2 CDs, with long and л л short tracks, slow and fast songs. The Pineapple л л Thief has been compared to Porcupine Tree, л л Radiohead, etc. I saw them recently playing live, л л together with Riverside (october 2009). л л Unfortunately, The Pineapple Thief played only one л л hour, because they were considered as support for л л Riverside (double headline would be more л л appropriate). Although Riverside was also good, л л this evening I preferred The Pineapple Thief, as л л their music was more original in my opinion. Hope л л to see a full show soon! Although the songs for л л this compilation are remastered, this 2 CD set may л л not be a "must have" if you already own every л л studio album.
