Sarah Jane (born 25 February 1977), better known by her stage name Sarah Jezebel Deva, is an English singer. She was the female soprano vocalist for Cradle of Filth for 14 years and the frontwoman of the band Angtoria for 10 years. In 2009, Deva started her self-titled solo project, releasing two studio albums and one EP from 2010 to 2012, and in 2020 announced she would be working with former Angtoria bandmate Chris Rehn on a new project entitled Torn Between Two Worlds.

The Corruption of Mercy is the second album by English metal vocalist Sarah Jezebel Deva. The former Angtoria front-woman (and Cradle of Filth backing singer) seems to have gone all out for more on this release... more orchestral, more blast-beats and overall more Metal. She's had a couple of personnel changes in the band and that reflects on the record - drummer Luke Sibthorpe of The Dead Lay Waiting is a one-man drum monster, you'd be forgiven for thinking that the kid has 4 arms and 4 legs to hit all the beats the way he does. Pzy-Clone of The Kovenant also adds plenty of shredding riffs to the album and it's an overall fiercer album than the debut one.
However, it does take a little while to get going properly. There are plenty of floating arrangements, but it's all to easy to float away from them and forget you're listening until you hear something mind-boggling like lyrics about watching paint dry. However, tracks like 'Silence Please' win some points back, with an atmosphere sounding something like a poltergeist-infected house-on-a-hill, with the choppy vocals giving a good feel to the track, although the track seemingly ends pretty suddenly.
There's also a cover of The Cranberries' 'Zombie In There'. Decent enough cover, given a good ol' metal wringing. There are better (Breed 77) and worse (A.D.A.M) covers of this song.
However, 'Sirens' is the stand-out track of the album, it even feels nautical. It's the track that makes best use of Sarah's stunning voice, while also packing Maiden-esque galloping bass and kazoo guitar riffs. The almost Siouxsie-like 'The Eyes That Lie' and the pounding title track couple up to finish strongly from an album that had started relatively weak.
