Although not as commercially successful as many of their contemporaries, albeit with a greater number of chart entries, Sham 69 has been a huge musical and lyrical influence on the Oi! and streetpunk genres. The band allegedly derived their name from a piece of football-related graffiti . Amidst a heated debate about the Sham 69 name, guitarist Dave Parsons released this 2007 album without founding frontman James Pursey. (A singer credited as "Scazz" takes Pursey's place.) Personnel issues aside, HOLLYWOOD HERO finds the U.K. punk act in surprisingly fine, hard-charging form, as revealed on the revved-up "I Want Glory" and "I Don't Believe a Word," which sounds like a vintage Social Distortion tune.
