Das Duo ist insbesondere für seine Reggae- und Dub-Produktionen bekannt und prägte maßgeblich die Reggae-Rhythmen der 1970er und 1980er Jahre. Sly & Robbie bildeten über Jahre hinweg die Rhythmusgruppe der jamaikanischen Reggae-Band Black Uhuru. Weiterhin wirkten Sie an Alben von Peter Tosh, Gregory Isaacs, Culture und vielen anderen Reggae-Interpreten mit. Backing Band - Taxi All Stars, We The People Band, [Musician]: Deadly Headly, A. Collins*, Ranchie*, Bo-Peep*, Dire Zapow*, Wire*, E. Carrington*, Bubbler*, J. Harris, L. Wallace, L. Parks*, Dougie*, R. Lynne*, R. Shakespeare, Sky Juice, Sly Dunbar The Revolutionaries: Set up in 1975 as the house band of the Channel One Studios. The Revolutionaries with Sly Dunbar on drums and Bertram "Ranchie" McLean on bass, created the new "rockers" style that would change the whole Jamaican sound (from roots reggae to rockers, and be imitated in all other productions). Beside Sly, many musicians played in the band: Robbie Shakespeare on bass for example. The band played on numerous dub albums and recorded as a backing band.
