Mother's Finest ist eine US-amerikanische Funk-Rock-Soul-Crossover-Band, die 1970 von dem S�nger-Ehepaar Joyce Baby Jean Kennedy und Glen Doc Murdock gegr�ndet wurde. Ihr erstes Album kam 1973 auf RCA heraus und ist heute ein rares Sammlerst�ck.
1976 erschien ihr 2. Album Mother's Finest bei Epic/CBS. Es enthielt mit dem ironisch gemeinten Song Nigizz Can't Sing Rock 'n' Roll einen umstrittenen Song, der f�r einigen Aufruhr sorgte. Das dritte Album Another Mother Further spielte mit der Assoziation mit dem Wort Motherfucker. 
Das Album wurde zum Sprungbrett f�r die Karriere der multikulturellen Rockband. Seit ihrem Auftritt in der zweiten ARD-Rockpalast-Nacht von 1978 (Eurovisionssendung) in der Essener Grugahalle (der neu zusammen mit einem Rockpalast-Konzert von 2003 auch auf DVD ver�ffentlicht wurde) sind sie auch in Europa einem gr��eren Publikum bekannt und haben Kultstatus.

The band was disappointed with the album, claiming that RCA added "instrumental sweetening" without their consent. Despite sessions for a second album, they were later dropped by RCA.
The album was released on CD by Wounded Bird Records in 2010 as part of a two-disc package that also included the band's 1973 unreleased second RCA album, their 1976 Epic Records debut, also titled Mother's Finest. Both the vinyl and CD editions are out-of-print.
Mother's Finest distanced themselves from this record. I guess that must have had something to do with the record company, cause this is as good as it gets. The first three songs are a bit feeble, especially production-wise. But when track 4 kicks in, things start cooking.
