Rock

New Model Army ist eine britische Independent-Band, deren Musik durch Rock-, Folk- und Punkelemente beeinflusst ist und deren Urspr�nge im Punk liegen. Die Band wurde 1980 in Bradford, Yorkshire, gegr�ndet
Der Name geht zur�ck auf die gleichnamige Parlamentsarmee, die im englischen B�rgerkrieg im 17. Jahrhundert unter F�hrung von Oliver Cromwell gegen die royalistischen Truppen k�mpfte. Die Gr�ndung der Band fand zeitlich zu Beginn der ersten Regierung von Margaret Thatcher statt. „Wir fanden es eine gute Idee, uns nach einer Armee zu benennen, die eine Revolution gegen die Regierung gewagt hat“ (Sullivan).

New Model Armys Live SO36 is punk rock in its raw form. The album can be seen as an indirect follow-up to their 2023 released live album Sinfonia, recorded the day before. Because when the idea arose to give a New Model Army concert with full orchestra in the magnificent Berlin tempodrome, the band came up with a thought: if they were already doing something so extravagant, they should do the exact opposite on the same weekend. So they booked the two following evenings in the legendary sweaty punk rock shed SO36 in Kreuzberg and reduced New Model Army to their simplest, purest form - without orchestra, keyboards or double drums. 
Sweaty, uncompromising rock-n-roll.
