New Wave

The B-52's/B-52s ist eine US-amerikanische Rockband aus Athens, Georgia. Seit 2008 schreibt die Band ihren Namen ohne Apostroph, also The B-52s. Die Band wurde von den f�nf Studenten Kate Pierson, Cindy Wilson, deren Bruder Ricky Wilson, Fred Schneider und Keith Strickland im Oktober 1976 gegr�ndet. 
ie eigenwillige Mischung aus Rock 'n' Roll, Punk und Funk kam besonders in der amerikanischen Studentenbewegung und bei New-Wave-Fans gut an. Es gelang den B-52's, den Rock mit dem New Wave zu vereinen. Der oftmals schrille, oftmals melodische Gesang der beiden S�ngerinnen, komische Texte und rockiges Gitarrenspiel neben teilweise Science-Fiction-haften Keyboardmelodien sind das Markenzeichen der B-52's. Viele ihrer Cover sind typisch f�r den New Wave.
Die B-52s waren eine stilbildende Gruppe, die den Ruf Athens' als Zentrum des alternativen Rock begr�ndet hat. Seit den B-52's brachte die dortige University of Georgia immer wieder bekannte Bands wie beispielsweise R.E.M. hervor. Durch ihre Zusammenf�hrung des Rock and Roll mit dem New Wave �ben sie bis heute einen gro�en Einfluss auf Musikgruppen aus.

Good Stuff is the sixth studio album by American new wave band the B-52's. Elysa Gardner of Rolling Stone found the work of the two producers "impressively seamless", citing "Dreamland" and "Bad Influence" as highlights, and added that "[Kate] Pierson's richly textured vocals hold up just fine on their own" in light of the absence of Cindy Wilson.
In a retrospective review for AllMusic, Stephen Thomas Erlewine thought the title track "was a transparent attempt to recapture the good vibes of 'Love Shack'" that "didn't succeed" but "did have the distinction of being the best single pulled from Good Stuff."
