Die Allman Brothers Band war eine Rockband aus Macon, Georgia, im S�den der USA. Sie war die erste und auch eine der wichtigsten Bands des Southern Rock und hatte ihre gr��ten Erfolge Anfang der 1970er Jahre.
Gegr�ndet 1969, bestand die Band urspr�nglich aus Duane Allman (Gitarre), Gregg Allman (Gesang, Keyboard), Dickey Betts (Gitarre), Berry Oakley (Bass), Butch Trucks (Schlagzeug) und Jai Johanny „Jaimoe“ Johanson (Schlagzeug, Percussion). Die eigentlichen Allman-Br�der, Duane und Gregg, spielten zuvor in verschiedenen Gruppen, u. a. den Escorts, den Allman Joys und zuletzt Hour Glass. Als Hour Glass ihren Plattenvertrag verloren, gr�ndete Duane die Allman Brothers Band.
1969 brachten sie ihr zun�chst wenig beachtetes erstes Album heraus, The Allman Brothers Band. Das zweite Album Idlewild South (1970) war bereits ein Achtungserfolg. Mehr als mit ihren Studioalben erspielte sich die Band in ihren fr�hen Jahren jedoch eine ausgesprochene Reputation als Liveband.
Im Januar 2014 entschieden Derek Trucks und Warren Haynes, dass beide im Laufe des Jahres die Band verlassen werden, um mehr Zeit und Energie in ihre eigenen Gruppen zu investieren. Gregg Allman gab daraufhin bekannt, dass die Allman Brothers Band damit beendet sei und auch er sein Soloprojekt Gregg Allman and Friends verfolgen w�rde.

At Fillmore East is the first live album by American rock band the Allman Brothers Band, and their third release overall. At Fillmore East was the band's artistic and commercial breakthrough, rapidly increasing the band's exposure and garnering them a new legion of fans. It has since been widely regarded as one of the greatest live albums of all time. George Kimball of Rolling Stone magazine said that "The Allman Brothers had many fine moments at the Fillmores, and this live double album (recorded March 12th and 13th of this year) must surely epitomize all of them." Kimball cited the band as "the best damn rock and roll band this country has produced in the past five years" and said of comparisons to the Grateful Dead at the time, "The range of their material and the more tenuous fact that they also use two drummers have led to what I suppose are inevitable comparisons to the Dead in its better days."
