Born on February 6 1950, in Los Angeles, California, U.S.A., Died December 31, 2015 in Los Angeles, California, U.S.A., Her vocal style gained her the tag of "new Aretha Franklin" in the mid-70's.
Daughter of Nat King Cole, cousin of Eddie Cole and niece of Freddy Cole. Married Marvin Yancy, from the songwriting/producer duo Chuck Jackson & Marvin Yancy, who produced her in the beginning of her career.
Also of note are her covers of Bruce Springsteen's "Pink Cadillac", her highly successful comeback single after her troubles with drug addiction, The Beatles' "Lucy in the Sky with Diamonds", Percy Sledge's "When A Man Loves A Woman", Billie Holiday's "Good Morning Heartache", Fleetwood Mac's "Oh, Daddy", Ella Fitzgerald's "Stairway To The Stars", Guess Who's "These Eyes" etc.

Ask a Woman Who Knows is a 2002 jazz album by vocalist Natalie Cole with guest Diana Krall. It received four Grammy Award nominations.
Ms. Cole's musical choices include songs that depict the various aspects of love -- its joy, its sorrow, its loneliness, and its consolation. Included are two of Dinah Washington's gems -- "I Haven't Got Anything Better to Do" and the title track, "Ask a Woman Who Knows" -- both songs about love gone wrong. Cole changes the tone of the set with great scatting on the up-tempo swinger "My Baby Just Cares for Me"; "It's Crazy," the hit written by her father, Nat King Cole; and the soulful "I'm Glad There Is You," which features Roy Hargrove on flugelhorn. Natalie Cole sings her engaging musical stories with priceless, nuanced phrasing.
Overall, this is an exceptional recording that re-teams her with Tommy LiPuma, the producer of her biggest hit, Unforgettable: With Love.
