Enchantment first joined forces in the late 60s at Detroit's Pershing High School. The group obtained their first recording contract by winning first place in a 1969 talent contest sponsored by local Detroit radio station WCHB. Once Upon a Dream ist das zweite Album von Enchantment. Das Album wurde 2012 von Big Break Records remastered und mit Bonustracks neu aufgelegt. Das 1977 veröffentlichte Album erreichte 1978 Platz 8 der R&B-Albumcharts. Die Crossover-Ballade „ It’s You That I Need “ erreichte Platz 1 der R&B-Singlecharts, während „If You’re Ready (Here It Comes)“ auf Platz 14 der R&B-Charts landete. Hier findet man eigentlich alles, was sich Freunde dieser Musikrichtung wünschen können: tolle Gesangsdarbietungen, starke Melodien und natürlich prächtige Orchestrierungen. Kurz gesagt: Songs, die auch nach mehrmaligem Hören nicht langweilig werden. Das absolute Highlight und Anspieltipp stellt dabei "Angel In My Life" dar. Kleine Info am Rande: auch der HipHop-Produzent 9th Wonder hat offensichtlich viel Gefallen an dem Album gefunden, von dem er nämlich gleich drei Songs gesampelt hat. Und das ist wohl ein weiterer Beweis dafür, wie zeitlos gut die Musik hier ist.
