Nach mehreren Umbesetzungen besteht die Band heute im Wesentlichen aus den beiden Gründungsmitgliedern Ian McCulloch (Gitarre, Gesang) und Will Sergeant (Gitarre). Die Gruppe erreichte mit den Alben Crocodiles (1980) und vor allem Heaven Up Here (1981) auf dem eigens für die Band geschaffenen Label Korova schnell Kultstatus. Der New Musical Express pries Heaven Up Here, produziert und abgemischt vom britischen Musikproduzenten Hugh Jones, als makelloses Meisterwerk. For those of us who grew up on the bunnymen (and who can't stick ANY of the records they recorded after the eponymous grey one) this is a positive treasure. some of the takes are strange, but EATB are a strange band, utterly sui generis (and like many-a one-of-a-kind band they spawned some dumb imitators, cf. The Ocean Blue and Mighty Lemon Drops). I love the early stuff here but the Ocean Rain tracks (mainly acoustic) bob and flutter and soar. Highly rec'd!
